The Purpose of Ignition

Hey everyone! This is Kylie, editor of KOF, and I’d like to tell you about KOF’s affiliate outreach and our summer project. It’s called Ignition, and I’m very excited about how I believe that God will use this in your lives.

Ignition is a four week challenge taking place June 1-27. Each week, we’ll focus on one aspect of our daily walk with God, such as talking to Him, and reading His Word.

Ignition started small, and the intentions of it were simple—to ignite a fiery love for God in a generation that is growing more and more distant from Him.

But as God revealed more, and the vision grew, I realized it’s also more than that. God has called us to be a light to the world. But, as I wrote in my Reflections article, a candle can’t burn by itself. It has to have another source fueling it. We can’t be the light until we have a grasp of God’s light. It’s only when we are aware of His power and amazing love for us that we can truly shine and give Him the Glory—all out of our love for Him.

Ignition is about regaining our focus in a world where it’s so easy to get distracted. It’s about setting our mind on heavenly things, not earthly. It’s about falling deeper in love with God and remembering His love for us.

Through Ignition, we’re taking a journey. It’s journey to get closer to God, to know Him more, and to feel Him working in our lives. Will you join us?

Finally, in Paul’s words: “I pray that out of his glorious riches he [God] may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 16:19)

Join the Challenge

Hi! I’m Catey, the Assistant Editor of the Ignition Challenge ’09. I write the Sparks of Mercy column for Ignition. So far, we have three regular contributors for the Ignition Challenge, which, without further ado, I’ll introduce:

Kylie: Kylie (editor for Kids of Faith) is our founder, editor, and a main writer. She’ll be writing the Stoked by Love column. Kylie is a fantastic writer and editor who is as fun as she is faith-filled. You’ll enjoy reading her reflections on the weekly topic and her takes on life in her short stories.

Catey: Me! I’m your assistant editor and a main writer. As mentioned before, I’ll be writing the Sparks of Mercy column and some other pieces for your enjoyment. I’m delighted to team up with my friend and my sister over the summer to make Ignition happen. Look for my characteristic unusual style and deep thought, both in my column on taking the challenge deeper, and in my sort-of-true stories.

Jocelyn: Yay! Our contributing artist for KOF is also crossing over to Ignition for the month of June. It’ll be a joy to have her aboard; her trademark artistic eye and dry humor will add a great touch to our team.

We’ll also be featuring some guest writers (some of the other Kids of Faith contributors) and other fun stuff.

Ignition is one of the staff’s biggest events of the year. We’re all very excited to be bringing the challenge to you. Kylie, Joss and I hope you’ll join us for the challenge.

Here’s how it works:

Starting June 1st, we’ll begin our challenge. We’ll post the topic for the week (things like prayer, worship, Scripture) and deliver the challenge for you to do over the week every Sunday. Then, we’ll have devotional columns, short stories, humor, art, and a few pieces about our theme written by the entire Ignition team. And we also have a few surprises for the Challenge – specials, unique articles from different perspectives, and other fun things to read and do. The Ignition team will be participating in the Challenge, and want to be involved in your personal reception of our program. We’d love to pray for you, hear your thoughts and get to know you over the month-long period.

We’re hoping to make our first annual Ignition Challenge a special event that will influence a range of people.
